Siem Reap: Part I

We arrived at Siem Reap and learned so many skills. We worked with three partners: Grasshopper Adventures, Paul Dubrule and Soria Moria. I'll write about the first partner here first, stay tuned for the next blog.

Grasshopper Adventures is a bike tour company that does bike tours all around Asia. With them, we took a bike tour around the temples of Angkor and also learned a little about bike repair. Here are some skills we learned: how to change a tire, how to fix a tire when a thorn gets into it, how to fix a fallen chain, how to put oil in the chains and cables, and how to clean the bikes. Learning this was so interesting and it was definitely harder than it looked. Being a bike mechanic is not as easy as I thought. The teacher made everything look so easy and then I would try to do it and it would be a complete disaster, but I had fun anyway, laughing at the disasters I made. The teachers were very nice and patient.

The bike tour was so much fun! It was definitely one of my highlights in Asia. We biked around different temples of Angkor Wat. The paths were nice too, we biked through paved streets and highways and through little rocky streets and narrow sandy trails. We would get to each temples, leave the bikes outside, and then go in and explore the temples on our own. Also the guides would tell us a little about the history of each temple. I really enjoyed it. Here are a few pictures from our biking adventure:
